About

Be Part of Something Bigger Than Yourself

The Leadership in Working Landscapes Scholarship is about empowering the next generation of land stewards—students who will shape the future of our rangelands, watersheds, and communities across the West.

This endowed scholarship ensures that students in Utah State University’s S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney College of Agriculture and Natural Resources can pursue hands-on learning and leadership experiences that prepare them to work where science meets stewardship—on the land, with people, and for the future.

Thanks to the generosity of Scott and Mindy Pratt, proud USU alumni and owners of PMG Vegetation, this fund supports students who embody the same values that have guided their own careers: hard work, applied learning, and a commitment to conserving the landscapes that sustain us all.

Why It Matters
Scott and Mindy know firsthand the power of a Utah State education. Their time in the Quinney College of Agriculture and Natural Resources set the foundation for a lifetime of leadership in conservation and land management.
Through their company, they’ve spent more than two decades managing nearly one million acres across the Western U.S.—using innovative, science-based tools to restore ecosystems, combat invasive species, and protect vital resources like the Great Salt Lake.

Now, through the Leadership in Working Landscapes Scholarship, they’re investing in students who share their drive to learn by doing—students who will lead the next generation of applied conservation and resource management professionals.

This Fall, Your Gift Goes Twice as Far
Scott and Mindy are matching every dollar up to $5,000 this fall—doubling the impact of your gift. Together, we can help more students access scholarships and professional development opportunities like internships, research, and field experiences that prepare them for real-world impact.

Whether you give $25, $100, $500—or more, your contribution is doubled and directly supports students pursuing degrees in agriculture, natural resources, and conservation.

How We’ll Use the $5,000 Goal

  • Your gift supports the Leadership in Working Landscapes Endowment, created to bring together students from both agriculture and natural resources—reflecting the unity and collaboration at the heart of the newly merged College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (QANR).
  • Scott and Mindy’s vision stems from their own USU experience: Mindy was a Natural Resources student who took agriculture courses, and Scott was an Agriculture student who took natural resources courses. This scholarship honors that shared foundation by supporting students who bridge both disciplines—those majoring or minoring across Ag and NR fields and who bring a deep connection to rural landscapes and working lands.
  • Awards can be applied toward any cost of attendance and include opportunities for professional development funding—helping students attend conferences, join professional associations, and gain hands-on experience that connects science, management, and leadership in the field.
